Will you share?

NewsPosted by Scott Raab 18 Jan, 2011 23:21:14
ABSS is a week - or a couple of days - packed full of opportunities to learn, to grow and to share. Consider how you would like to share during your time together.

"Lekker" - Bring something typical from your country to share during the sandwich meal or at the coffee break. Belgian chocolate cannot be topped, but you can try.

"Talent" - Thursday evening brings the "Gemundener Follies" low-ebtry leven talent show. Share your talent and give us a good reason to laugh.

"Spare change" - Thursday is also our ice cream night. Plan to bring along some spare change for this night. The "hired cleaning" is included in the fee.

"Scholarship" - Be informed that we have a scholarship fund, if you are able to make a "deposit" or need to make a "withdrawal".

"Walk and talk" - Every day begins with singing, progresses on to some great lessons and then takes a break in the afternoon. We have left the afternoons open for great walks in the countryside, discussing the lessons or simply getting to know one another. There are also plenty of touris attractions in the area to visit.

"Sing a new song" - or an old one. Be sure to bring your voice to join in the wonderful singing.

"A good book" - Plan on having something to offer during the "Book review/Reading advisory" session (including websites, etc)

Talented?

NewsPosted by Scott Raab 18 Jan, 2011 23:10:44
Traditonally there is a "Gemündener Follies", a low-entry level talent show. Everyone is welcome, especially those who think they are talented. We have heard all sorts of songs, seen skits galore, heard dramatic readings, listened to wonderful poems written during the week and laughed at jokes or magic acts.

Plan to share a bit of your talent on the Thursday evening and then enjoy some delicious ice cream with the audience and other "talent".

A great investment!

CostPosted by Scott Raab 18 Jan, 2011 17:59:16
Naturally, these sessions are going to cost a little bit. As always, the monetary costs are kept to a minimum without cutting back on the value received.

Costs run €26 per day for an adult, which includes lodging and food.

This means that you pay €104 for Session I, €52 for Sessions II (weekend) or €156 for both sessions. There is also a one-time fee of €8 for linens, but you can save this fee by bringing your own bed linens (single-person beds).

Families will have a discount applied from the third person (±50%).

Please plan to pay in Euro's (no checks, US$ or other currency please). There are cash machines in Usingen (10 minutes away).

Costs cover breakfast, a warm meal at noon, and a sandwich meal in the evening. You are invited to bring along something typical from your country to go along with the sandwich meal, and/or cake and cookies to share at our coffee breaks.

These are the financial costs, but we realize that you also understand that a wise investement has its own returns. Come ready to invest some good time in the lessons, in conversations during the afternoons, in considering new or different thoughts, in examining the Bible to see if what is taught is truth and how it can positively influence your life and those you know.
